Your Money

December 20th, 2014 I started reading Tony Robbins latest book,
Money, Master The Game, 7 Simple Steps to Financial Freedom.

Two weeks later I have finished it! It’s OVER 600 pages! That’s how much I loved and devoured this book.

Screen Shot 2015-01-03 at 1.33.25 PMThere are parts that I was familiar with, stock, bonds, and mutual funds, and there are parts that I didn’t know much about but had heard of.

Now I am no where near a financial expert, but I am much more educated! Planning and funding my retirement has been on my mind a lot lately, I am currently 38 and I don’t have that much saved for retirement. I have some shares of a stock of a company that I used to be an employee of, and I have a pension through a union I belong to. Pensions are a thing of the past for most. So I do consider myself fortunate to have a pension as an option to factor into my retirement planning.

If you have a 401(k) from your employer, check out those fees! It was a real eye opener what I learned about fees! Now on the surface, the difference between a 3% fee and a 1.5% fee may not see like all that much, but when you take into count compound interest, over the life of the investment it can be a difference of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of dollars! That is a BIG deal!

If you are a business owner check how much your employees are paying in fees, it is YOUR responsibility to provide the best 401(k) options you can to your employees. If you are an employee, you can compare how your 401(k) fees stack up to other plans. You owe it to yourself to know.

It’s not just 401(k)’s that have fees, when you buy or sell a stock, your Traditional IRA or ROTH IRA, mutual funds, Bonds, Treasury Bills, there are fees attached to all. Please don’t misunderstand me, if you use a financial adviser they should get a fee for their expertise, just make sure you are not over paying! It will affect you in the long run, not them.

will care more about
your money than you
.

Do yourself a huge favor and read this book. Learn about money, and read other books too! I don’t take what Tony says as “gospel”, he interviewed 50 of the BEST OF THE BEST in the investment world. The bottom line is EDUCATE YOURSELF. You owe it to yourself and your family.

There are investment allocations and strategies that were only shared with the ultra wealthy. Because of Tony’s influence these are now available to the “little guys” like you and me. Where you would of had to of had a 20 billion net worth, and 5 million available to invest, you can now invest for a few thousand or a few hundred dollars. Most is all available online, so you can do it yourself, but if you need assistance, there are advisers available for you to call and talk to!

How about an investment that if set up correctly, you get to take advantage of market up swings but none of the down swings! AND it could be all tax free!!

If you are a beginner investor, or a seasoned investor, everyone would benefit from reading AND implementing this book.

I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to work forever, so the sooner I can have my money work for me the better.

I’d love to hear your thoughts on this, and if you’ve read the book, leave a comment below. I know you all know someone who could benefit from improving their financial situation, do them a favor and have them read this book too.
